Making decisions about future pathways and careers can be a confusing and challenging time. At GNLC, our focus is to ensure every student leaves our College with an individual pathway that suits their specific needs. Post-secondary pathways include transition for our students through to prestigious University Courses, Vocational Education, Private Colleges, the Defence Forces, Apprenticeships and Traineeships.
At GNLC our careers program is delivered across Years 7-12 through three pillars:
1. Careers Education Program (pastoral and curriculum)
2. Vocational Assessment
3. Career
Counselling (individual)
Students complete their Morrisby Career Profiling Report during Year 9. This highly regarded career profiling tool, used by over 80% of Melbourne’s leading schools, assists students in finding career direction, which supports their individual VCE learning pathway. All Year 10 students visit the Victorian Careers Show and also have the opportunity to participate in our optional Work Experience program. A compulsory careers and pathways appointment is conducted for each Year 10 students and parents are also welcome to attend. University visits take place during Years 11 and 12.
Our fortnightly newsletter, Careers Corner, along with work experience opportunities and other information regarding career and tertiary webinars and podcasts is communicated regularly through the Schoolbox platform for all Year 9-12 families.
The GNLC Career Tools Portal is also available for all families to search for a wide range of resources including but not limited to course and occupation information, senior Secondary Years planning, post-secondary options, resume creation, individual skills testing and virtual work experience. We welcome parents, students and caregivers to explore the opportunities via the link below:
